The Bribie Project

Young people can join affordable, accessible activities offered through this City of Moreton Bay initiative. Current options include stand-up paddle sessions on Bribie Island for ages 10–17 and bicycle-learning sessions at nearby Sandstone Point for ages 3–12. Bookings and age limits apply to some activities, and a parent or guardian must book for participants under 18.

Bribie Island Nippers

Junior surf lifesaving at Woorim helps children develop water-safety knowledge, rescue skills and fitness. Annual pool-swim evaluations apply to everyone, while under-8s and older also complete a beach evaluation. At least one parent must join as an associate club member and hold a Blue Card. The club is a registered Play On! Sports Voucher provider.

Bribie Island Aquatic Leisure Centre

This Bongaree facility offers learn-to-swim and water-safety programs alongside a heated 25-metre pool, program pool, children’s leisure pool and playground. Ask the centre about current lesson places and fees.

Island Dance

Children interested in movement and performance can try classes across various dance genres at this Bellara school. New students may book a free trial in their chosen genre before enrolling.

Imaginariums: Nocturnal explorers

Running at Bribie Island Seaside Museum from 12 September 2026 to 28 March 2027, this free drop-in experience uses hands-on activities to investigate mangroves, night-time wildlife, stars, seasons and Country. It is designed for all ages.

Free Playgroup at Bribie Island State School

Families with children aged 0–5 can attend a free early-years playgroup in the school’s ECDP setting at Bongaree.

Bribie Island Community Kindergarten

Qualified early childhood teachers lead two kindy groups during Queensland school terms. The program includes bush and beach days, music, Indigenous yoga, guided drawing and intergenerational activities. Free kindy funding applies to eligible children turning four by 30 June in their attendance year; three-year-old places and associated fees depend on availability.

Story Dogs

Children can practise reading to a dog during free individual sessions in the calm setting of Bribie Island Library. Thursday sessions exclude public holidays and must be booked.

Child Health Services

Qualified child health nurses support parents and carers with children’s health and development at Bribie Island Library. Options include individual appointments, parenting seminars and a four-week New Parent Group for parents of babies under four months. Sessions are listed for every Monday except the first, subject to nurse availability. Book individual appointments through Child Health on 1300 366 039.

Bribie Island Physiotherapy & Lifestyle Gym — Paediatric Rehabilitation

Children from infancy through adolescence can access play-based physiotherapy for developmental, neurological and physical challenges. Support may address motor skills, balance and mobility, with collaboration involving parents, carers, teachers and support coordinators. The provider states that it is NDIS registered.

UnitingCare — Supporting Children After Separation

Available nearby at Caboolture, this service provides one-to-one counselling for children aged 5–18 who are finding parental separation difficult, including approaches such as art and sand therapy. Families may self-refer, and community organisations can also make referrals. Enquiries are available on 1300 761 842.

UnitingCare — Specialist Child and Family Program

Free counselling and play-based therapy are available at Caboolture or Redcliffe for children aged 3–18, with support for parents and carers. Access is only by referral from the Caboolture, Morayfield, Redcliffe or Strathpine Child Safety Service Centres. Program enquiries can be made on 07 5428 4200.

Women experiencing domestic and family violence can call this free Queensland-wide helpline at any time on 1800 811 811. It provides crisis counselling, information and referrals, as well as help with emergency transport and accommodation for women and children.
